Toby is a quality leader with 30 years experience in software testing, spanning regulated financial and medical-device environments, agile startups and large multinationals. He's known for an investigative approach to testing, and for building inclusive, high-performing teams through empathetic, hands-on leadership. He currently leads the QA practice at Pushpay where he's embedded a Shift Left, risk-based testing culture.

Beyond testing he's just as invested in growing people as he is in growing process — from mentoring QA engineers to leading Pushpay's intern engineering programme and founding the company's LGBTQIA+ support group.

Toby has spoken on investigative testing at NZ Testing Conf 2024 and Melbourne Testing Talks. Toby is on our talk selection committee and will lead the Testing & Quality track for our 2027 edition.
