Aleisha Amohia

Aleisha Amohia (Te Ātihaunui-a-Pāpārangi, Ngāti Maru, Ngāti Hāua, Cambodia, India) is an advocate for gender justice and Indigenous rights.

A Technical Lead at Catalyst, Aleisha drives open source projects while mentoring others in software development. She was recognised for her contributions to community organisations with a New Zealander of the Year 2025 Local Hero Medal.

Aleisha is a long-time contributor to the NZ Tech Rally community. She first joined us as a speaker in 2023, delivering an inspiring talk on open-source code and communities. She then led the Community, Culture & Wellbeing track at NZ Tech Rally 2026. We are stoked to have her back leading the Community, Culture & Wellbeing track for NZ Tech Rally 2027.
